People Have Life Outside Of Business

Do you magically come to work everyday at nine and then shut off magically at five? Are you capable of doing nothing outside your job description? Are you really with no other dimension other than “Partner” at at “J.B. and Schwabs Law Firm”?

Well, that’s how a lot of salesmen and marketers see you.  And I hope you are not one of them.

Your biggest mistake might just be that you don’t see your customers as real people. You see customers as inanimate safes to be unlocked with a formula you learned in business school (insert the correct formula to prove that your money saved is greater than after the purchase). You forget that they, like you, have children they play with, a wife they love, and a superbowl game they love to watch with “the boys”. Whether you realize it or not, I’m the same person at work as I am at home.

There’s no magic portal I step in every morning that transforms me from non worker to worker and somehow alters the way I react to everything. After you realize this, your business will grow much faster. And you’ll also have more fun.

So here’s a question for you to comment on, what do you think are the biggest mistakes that people make in selling?

We have to touch the human side of our clients or prospect, so they will trust
and start considering us or our products as part of solutions and not like an
    another problem to face.

  2. Eric Tam Says:

    Hi Reynolds,
That’s great to hear! Glad you dropped by.
